  • MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Dear Students,

Mathematics is the language of science and a tool for understanding the mechanics of the universe. In this context, the primary goal of the Department of Mathematics at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is to teach mathematics theoretically and practically and to provide the necessary infrastructure for anyone wishing to conduct advanced research. To this end, our primary goal is to cultivate scientists capable of advancing mathematical skills and to cultivate individuals equipped with mathematical knowledge who are contemporary, enterprising, self-confident, knowledge-producing, original, and possess aesthetic and ethical values. In addition to core mathematics courses, our program offers a wide range of elective courses that students can tailor to their interests. This structure allows students to deepen their mathematical knowledge and gain expertise in various disciplines.

Our department was established in 1992 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Our department offers a four-year undergraduate program, typically formal education. It also offers master's and doctoral programs. Our department consists of six majors: Analysis and Theory of Functions, Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Algebra and Number Theory, Topology, Fundamentals of Mathematics, and Logic.

Today, the use of mathematics is expanding and constantly evolving in response to the needs of other fields. Mathematics, in particular, underlies developments in engineering, physics, chemistry, environment, space, finance, and economics. Our other goals include supporting other faculties with mathematics courses, publishing our scientific work and research articles in national and international journals, participating in conferences, and presenting projects.

Our department offers Erasmus and Farabi student exchange programs for our students. Our department employs a total of 13 faculty members: 6 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 2 research assistants has doctorate degree, and 1 research assistant.
